At Craven Dunnill, we set ourselves apart through the quality and accuracy of our technical support and guidance.
Our technical experts sit on a number of standards and technical committees including BSI, UKSRG (UK Slip Resistance Group) and TTA (The Tile Association). This ensures that any technical advice given is absolutely in line with current standards and industry guidance.
Slip Resistance
Pendulum Test Values (PTV) are the preferred measurement for slip resistance for commercial floors by the HSE, UK Slip Resistance Group, BSI and The Tile Association. The pendulum machine replicates the movement of the heel during the action of normal walking and is based on “squeeze film theory”. A risk assessment for products or floors can then be determined.
Presentations, practical demonstrations or non RIBA Accredited CPD’s can be undertaken either at our offices or at architects/designers practices to demonstrate the benefits and use of the Pendulum machine.
LRV (Light Reflectance Values)
The Equality Act replaced the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) in 2010. LRV is utilised as part of the Equality Act as an aid to the creation of accessible environments for disabled people through visual contrast between different surfaces or elements within the environment.
Light Reflectance Values published in our range brochures are generated in house to assist the specifier in selecting suitable ceramics to conform to Equality Act guidance.
British Standards Guidance
As part of our technical support to specifiers and commercial tile installers we can offer advice in line with recommendations given in BS5385 – Design and Installation of Ceramic Wall & Floor tiling.
This raft of standards is split into four separate standards relating to ceramic tiles to cover Internal Wall Tiling, External Wall Tiling, Floor Tiling and Floor Tiling in Specific Conditions and has recently been updated to take modern products, production techniques, installation materials and codes of practice into account.
Sampling
Fast and efficient sampling is an important part of our specifier support service. Smaller tiles can be despatched as full tiles, and larger tiles can be sent either as 100×100 colour swatches – perfect for mood boards – or delivered as larger tile samples.
